How do others see you?

They say first appearances are what you remember about a person. This is especially true if it is a fleeting moment or a short period of time you spend together. We tend to remember that which stands out the most about a person.

Think about how many times you have looked at someone and either pigeon holed them as being a certain type of person or mentally criticized their clothes, hair, shoes or weight. How many times have you mentally applauded someone on their appearance? How many times have you thought this and then after meeting them and talking to them for a while they have turned out to be different to what you first envisaged? We all do it or have done it at some point in time.

So when you apply for a position how would you like to be known. Do you want to be trendy and fashionable, comfortable and cosy, hard and fast, serious or light hearted? What appearance will suit the position? Should you change your whole look just to suit the position and company?

At the end of the day it all boils down to what skin you are comfortable in. How far you are prepared to stretch yourself and whether or not it is all worth it at the end of the day. Why try and appear really trendy or serious if does not suit your personality. It can be quite noticeable.

Appearance is memorable and important but your personality and ability should always lead the way. Talk to someone close to you and ask them if your appearance suits your personality. It is a good way to find out more about yourself.

Whichever way you decide to go, always make sure your ability and personality shine through. Let people know the real you.
